Lynemouth Power Station

Emtec Building Services NE Ltd is currently working with Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd (Civil Engineering Division) on one of the largest Civil Engineering Projects in the North of England.

Emtec are providing the power and controls cabling installation associated with the fuel handling system being constructed for the conversion of the Power Station from coal to biomass.  They are also providing the general building services installations / lighting for the scheme, in a project worth over £3m to Emtec and is part of an overall £350m investment project.

The cable installation includes over 120 miles of cable to be installed, terminated and tested across a large site comprising of road and rail delivery buildings, main storage silos and large conveyor systems designed to handle and deliver the biomass pellets to the Power Station.

When completed the Power Station will make a significant contribution to the National Grid and increase the UK’s current power generation capacity providing up to 390 megawatts of low carbon electricity.
