Commercial Manager / Senior Commercial Manager

Emtec Building Services Ltd are currently recruiting for a Commercial Manager / Senior Commercial Manager to join their expanding team based at our Head Office in Uddingston. You will be reporting to the Operations Director and provide commercial support to the operations team.  

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Provide and oversee commercial governance within your team.
  • Drive commercial best practice on projects
  • Identify & report on commercial risks & opportunities
  • Monthly Reporting:
    o Review monthly cost data after completion by project teams
    o Report on project cost forecast status and update summary for your business unit
    o Attend and drive commercial aspects of the monthly project finance review meetings
  • Profit & Loss:
    o Be instrumental in business forecasting, including revenue, gross profit, overhead & nett profit projections in Profit & Loss Accounts.
  • Review and challenge where appropriate the sales forecast for achievability.
  • Co-ordinate cash collection and lead cash meetings with Operations Teams.
  • Carefully vet & monitor interim applications to ensure all conditions of contract are satisfied and we are best placed to secure recovery.
  • Establish master Sub-Contracts for each of your projects and review as and when required to ensure correct scope of works is procured, ensuring all step down obligations from head contracts are included.
  • Review and provide assistance where required with client variations to ensure all opportunities are captured and valued in line with the business requirements.
  • Negotiate Sub-Contract / Main Contract amendments to the benefit of the business.
  • Review and provide assistance where required with client variations to ensure all opportunities are captured, valued with the business being best placed for recovery.
  • Review and authorise subcontractor payments and subcontractor payless notices.
  • Provide assistance to the operations team on general commercial management of the projects.
  • Ensure that contractual aspects of the projects are managed including EOT, delay calculations, interrogate and monitor contract programme, etc.
  • Attend project pre-start meetings.
  • Generally assist Operations Director / Regional Director with commercial duties which are necessary in running of the business (Profit & Loss, Projections, Quarterly / Monthly Management Meetings)

What we need from you

  • A keen interest in construction and be able to demonstrate good numeric, IT and communication skills.
  • Driving licence.
  • Have degree/honours degree in Quantity Surveying or similar.
  • Enthusiastic with excellent communication skills and a high attention to detail.
  • Be able to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team and have general experience of using Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Mechanical & Electrical Building Services experience would be an advantage.
  • Strong leadership skills and a team player.

About the Role

  • Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
  • Contract: Full Time Permanent
  • Hours: Monday to Thursday 8.30am-4.30pm and Friday 8.30pm-3.30pm
